When Kailie reaches 1 month old, we celebrate it with making "ketan putih & kuning" (glutinous rice cake) and give it to friends and relatives.

A little lock of hair
As Kailie reached 1 month old, we cut her hair. We actually can shave her whole head but we decided not to do so for Kailie. We shaved Yuta's whole head last time. But this time, Kailie is a winter baby. During winter, it is very cold outside, and body heat comes out easily from our head. We just do not want Kailie's head cold all the time. And t is troublesome too to have her wearing hat all the time.

Kailie is 1 month old
Kailie is one month old!!! :)
How happy I am. Things that have passed....My sore & engorged breasts are passed. Kailie is latching better now, and she slowly passes her every hours drinks to 3 hours now.
We are celebrating this moment.
Kailie looks so pretty in her green and pink outfit. Mommy got the from Baby Gap. Having baby girl deals a lot with clothes shopping. :)
Tummy time for Kailie
Today is tummy time for Kailie. We put Kailie upside down so she can exercise her neck. Since we always give Kailie bath the same way with her face up, she is doing this exercise pretty well. She looks like a big baby already. How time passes so quickly. It seems like only yesterday she was few days old.

More sleeps today
I had more sleeps last night. We play with Kailie during the day, so she has less sleep during the day. Though she still wakes up and wants to play for 1 to 2 hours during midnight, I feel more relaxed since I already expected it.
I just realized how I have less time now for Yuta. Kailie is growing and she is so cute that I am just so enjoying her babyhood. While Yuta like to throw tantrum when I take care for his sister. He screams, throws toys, runs here and there to ask for my attention during that time. Though it is a new thing, we (me and Oma) try to talk to him, give him snack before Kailie's breastfeeding time. Now I just realized how Daddy plays part during this kind of time. Yuta can look for daddy when mommy is busy. And Daddy just loves to play with Yuta too. We'll just wait for Daddy to return home soon then...

A Baby Girl is Different
Every kids is different. Especially a boy and a girl. Yuta is easy to be put to sleep since baby and even now. While Kailie...wow! I think it is already few days now for me not being able to sleep from the time she was put to bed till around 4 or 5 am in the morning. Kailie loves being carried, cuddled, having some little taps on her thigh while she is lying down, sleeping beside mommy during the night. So, baby girl is different! They are more sensitive and attached.
I learnt that new thing today, and hopefully I will get more sleep soon.

Daddy is going to Utah!
We took the picture before Daddy went to the business trip. Ow, mommy still looks so chubby. Another 3 weeks to go before mommy needs to start exercising!
Daddy is having business trip today. He is going to Salt Lake City, Utah. It is going to be 2 weeks business trip. We hardly have him to be away for longer than 4 to 5 days. We are going to miss him, that's for sure! Mommy will be shorthanded a little bit in the morning to entertain Yuta while she has to nurse Kailie. But cooking will be much simpler as now Oma can cook more food suited for mommy's taste, and less fried stuffs! Those are the Man of the house's favourites!

Kailie One Week Old
Kailie is already One Week Old. I still have another few weeks more to stay at home. It is an old tradition that mom and baby stays at home for 40 days to make sure they are fit enough to go out to resume outdoor activities.
Giving birth to Kailie without epidural does make differences. I recovered quicker and was ready to get out from house sooner than I expected. Although Oma is still around, I could help a little bit with house chores, etc. And also I have to take care of Yuta too.
Bili Blanket History
History comes back to life. Once again my baby is having jaundice.
Kailie was discharge at jaundice level 8. We were so happy because Yuta's jaundice was high last time. His level was 16 when he was discharged. Breastfeeding was tougher with Yuta as he was my first experience. As Kailie's breastfeeding has gone so well, I did not worry so much of her jaundice.
But her level was getting higher through the weekends. It reached 15. So our peditrician sent us the bili blanket for treatment at home. Other than that, doctor asked me to cut off breastfeeding for 48 hours, and gave formula to Kailie. It was because Kailie's jaundice was breastmilk jaundice (which is caused by some enzyme in the breastmilk)
The home treatment went well, and Kailie was more and more active as she recovered from jaundice.
In the picture there is a blue light behind Kailie's back and big cable coming out from her bottom. That's the bili blanket. Kailie looks like an little baby alien having a tail. :)

Kailie First Home Bath
Yuta was given bath by her grandma during his first 4 months. I felt missing something because of that. I saw the nurse showing me how to give sponge bath to newborn at the hospital. It was not easy as it looked though.
Still, this moment will not come again. When Oma asked to help me to give her bath, I let her do it once a while and I learnt from her. But not all the time. Though my bath is not as clean as Oma's, I am doing my best and I am getting better and better.
Our Christmas Gift 2007, Kailie Noel Han
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." -Isaiah 9:6
Kailie Noel Han is born on 26 December 2007, with weight 7lbs 9oz, and height 19.5inches.
The delivery, 26 December 2007
The first contraction began. I already heard from so many people that the feeling is like menstrual cram. But I was induced with my first one, and was not sure if this is the feeling they were talking about. The counting began. Luckily our clock was digital. It was every 9 minutes.I counted for 1 hour, and felt a bit sure that it was the one.I packed the hospital bag, took the doctor's phone number.
I woke Daddy up, and told him what to do. He woke his mom up, and mom prepared me three boiled eggs just in case I felt hungry on the way to hospital (though the doctor said it's safer not to eat anything before delivery). Once we reached the emergency, I just could not believe why they still asked us to register. Why do they call it Emergency if we still need to register?! I started to make noise in front of them, put the hot boiled eggs behind my waist for comfort, and finally they dragged me onto wheel chair and brought me to the Labour and Delivery Room.
The nurse who admitted me was not friendly also, so many questions with unfriendly tone. Daddy was still in the registration when I was inside the room. Once he arrived, I grabbed his hand and squeezed it hard! Oh no, this was the pain that people were talking about. I had Yuta with induction, and only lasted 15 minutes with the contraction before I got the epidural. I had prayed for a natural delivery without epidural for Kailie. Three other nurses came, and they asked me to breathe deep and release. And it worked. I almost could not stand the pain anymore when the doctor came and told me I could push soon. I was happy, but really could not believe what I heard. It was only 20 minutes that I felt the pain. And it was already time to push! Are you sure, doctor???
The doctor's name was Doctor Bukovac, a very nice lady. I was really glad she was the doctor on duty on that night. My own doctor could not come on that night, and she assigned her male partner to deliver me for induction. I somehow felt better to deliver with woman doctor, and God is so good to provide me Dr Bukovac.
When it was time to push, it was unbelievably painful! They said pushing is a piece of cake, why??? The burning pain was unforgettable. I screamed like crazy, but screaming was not helping my baby to go out. Instead, I should hold my breath and push, and push!!Kailie came out from the birth canal like a watermelon. The feeling of relieved is so great!! I was glad she came out safe and sound. I was so happy when I heard her crying. She looked chubby and healthy too!!
O God, I just can not thank You enough and enough.
Kailie was our answered prayer, for having her to be born in United States. Her big brother, Yuta, was born in US on May 2005, and we just prayed that our 2nd baby to be like him, so she could have the same chance to choose if she wants to be US citizen in the future.
Janet Phillips, my bible study leader, a wonderful tutor and woman of God, prayed with me on one afternoon when she came to our house. I cried when she prayed for me, and did not think more than that. THen, when we visited Indonesia few months later, I missed my period and returned back to US with a positive result. Wow! This thing makes me realize how in my life I took things for granted so many times and did not take prayer so seriously. So many lessons to be learned.

Another answered prayer was that Kailie was born naturally and without epidural. The recovery from natural delivery without epidural was amazing. I know that I do recover faster than the last time. And Kailie looks so healthy. I am really really thankful.
The Waiting Period. A Christmas Baby?
My due date has passed. It was 21st of December. Now it is 25th already. Christmas is here. We are invited by the Walsh totheir family tradition Christmas dinner, and we decided to go. People are surprised to see me still in big tummy. I just laughed, and told them that I was scheduled for induction on 27 December.
27 December is my wedding anniversary date. It feels funny that I am going to share it with my baby's birthday. After all, it is my "day". But we want the best for the baby. If it is going to be her "day" we let it to her "day" then.
Daddy gave me a special too. He told me to change our anniversary date to 26 December. Then mommy will have her special day before the baby's birthday.
The Christmas dinner was great. Everyone had really great time. It was warm, not so many people, yet we had great dinner, and very thankful for the Walsh to invite us and share the moment. It was indeed an unforgettable dinner.
With the blessings of friends for my delivery on that night, we left the dinner. I just could not close my eyes on the night. I was excited to think that daddy had promised me to bring me out for date at "Maggiano" italian restaurant on the 26th. We were going to start our first "new" anniversary date this year.
But God had another plan on that night.

3 of Us, and 1 more addition soon..
My new baby
My baby girl is taken a picture :) The doctor said she saw a small white spot in Kailie's heart, so she asked me to go to take a special ultrasound at perinatal center. The specialist there saw Kailie's picture and he said she was ok and her profile was normal. Here is Kailie's 4D profile inside my tummy. :)
